This course is designed to get someone to look at what they perceived to have happened to what really happened. This could be a use of force incident, driving, to talking to someone.

During this course, we will be going over

Field Training Officer is for law enforcement officers who are or will be assigned to provide field training to new officers. This course will provide the technical and personal skills to individuals in order for them to function as evaluators and trainers of recruits who have completed BLET, DOCC or new hires in Communications. Students need to bring their agency’s Field Training Officer Procedures Manual, and a blank copy of their Daily Observation Report (DOR).

First-line supervision goes beyond just managing a squad or unit; it's a vital role that turns policy into action within an organization. Each agency should teach their personnel about daily operations, policies, procedures and protocols.

The aim of this 40-hour course is to help students gain a deeper understanding of their responsibilities as first-line supervisors and the expectations of the various people they interact with daily.

This hands-on course prepares patrol officers, deputies, and other first responders to save lives in high-threat situations before EMS arrives. Built on Committee for Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (C-TECC) guidelines, TECC-LEO replaces the older LEFR-TCC program and focuses on simple, effective interventions that work under fire.


Participants learn to:

  • Apply the MARCH algorithm for rapid casualty assessment
  • Control massive bleeding with tourniquets, hemostatics, and wound packing
  • Manage airway and breathing emergencies under stress
  • Move and extract injured partners while maintaining scene security

Instruction is led by tactical-medicine providers with operational experience who keep every scenario realistic, relevant, and mission-driven.


Graduates earn an NAEMT TECC-LEO certificate and CAPCE CEUs (for qualified EMS personnel).

Law-enforcement officers may also receive North Carolina Justice Academy in-service credit upon agency submission and approval through their training coordinator.


While this course is not:

TECC-LEO is not a full medical certification course or a substitute for EMT training. It does not teach advanced clinical procedures or firearm tactics. The focus is on lifesaving trauma care that any officer can perform before medics arive--fast, pratical, and grounded in reality
